Has anyone out there backed up and restored the new Contact store the version 7.8 the one that users PostgreSQL.

I have to move one from one PC to another and I don't have it inhouse the instructions look simple enough but I have had that before with CS what looks simple can take weeks :)

[cheers]

not me, but a colleague of mine did it and he said it is just as the instructions say.
Hear say but he is trustworthy so you should be OK.

FHandw., ACSS (they told me twice so I guess it is tru that I am ACSS)

I don't suffer from insanity
I enjoy every moment of it :)

The upgrade is easy.

T%he not easy bit is moving the existing contact store.

How are you intending to do this upgrade and move or move and upgrade.

I favour the latter - it gives you a inherent safety factor.

So in broad outline

On new server
0) Ensure that there is no version of SQL 2005 installed on pc
1) Install old version of CS - don't start services
2) Copy the calls directory structure - big so it will take time

on old server
1) stop CS service
2) Start osql -E -S .\contactstore
3) backup database eware to disk="c:\<myfolder>\eware.bak"
4) stop MSDE Service
5) start MSDE in single user mode (Sqlserver -help will give precise commmand)
6) backup database master to disk="c:\<myfolder\master.bak"

On new server
1) restore master database - you will need to do this is singel user mode
2) restore eware database
3) start MSDE service
4) start Contactstore service

test to ensure calls are present and playable etc

Then start your upgrade...

With a bit of jiggery pokery you can do thi swithout losing any recordings in progress too!

Any other problems - post backk - but I ma out of the office today so I'll check back later

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
