Any advice on which would be better and why?
The price we got was about the same for both..

starting out will have 10 users and expanding up to 60.
1 PRI... 2 POTS lines...
and we utilize IP trunking between locations...

Thanks!

If you are going to IP trunk these between other definity systems or s8xxx sites then I would strongly recommend you get the 8300. It integrates more smoothly with the other CM products and the programming interface on the IPO is vastly different then what you are used to.

In addition not all of the functionality you and features that are available in CM are available in the IPO.

The IPO is a great stand alone product but imo the only way I would buy one over an 8300 is if the price point was significantly better.

I have both and recommend the 8300 (strongly as well). If it's a small/remote office, Avaya has a new product called: VPN Remote

VPNremote for 4600 Series is a software VPN (virtual private network) client – built directly into the Avaya IP telephone itself. This enhancement allows the Avaya IP phone to be plugged in and used seamlessly with any broadband internet connection. The end user experiences the same IP telephone features – as if they were using the phone in the office. VPNremote is available for the 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW IP Callmaster, 4625SW.

I would go with the the S8300 with G700 gateway. This way you can give all users the same features. The IPO is nice but the the S8300 is better.
