Connot update Foxresource , it is read only-error

I keep getting this error when I try to save changes to tools/options or taskpane. I have to ignore it 3 times to exit. sys(2005) is correct. I have deleted all foxusers,
reinstalled, ran "VFPCLEAN.app" to no avail. There is only
one config.fpw & foxuser.dbf and located with VFP8.exe directory. Nothing shows up as readonly. Is there something in the registory the is not allowing me to update? Everything works well; but I have to reset all my options when I reopen my app for editing.

Bob,
The information for the taskpane is in a different location than the tools/options info. The options are indeed in the registry, and you can get this error if VFP was installed under one user and you are logged in under another. (Especially if it was installed under a local administrator and you aren't one!)

The taskpane info is (usually) stored in HOME(7)+"Taskpane\". It too could have problems if you aren't at the same access level as the user that installed it.

Thanks for you reply. Is there a way that I could reset or correct the registry settings or reestablish myself as the administor? Thanks

If you have access to the registry entry, it will be at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualFoxPro\8.0\Options\ - if not, you'll just need to change your OS settings so that you can be a local administrator. Of course you'll first need to sign in as an administrator to do this!
