I am running windows server 2003. We currently have 7 windows XP computers, and 2 windows 2000 correctly running on our domain network. The problem is that one of the XP computers that we have hooked up is properly in the domain (user and computer) but when I try to access the computer from the server, it errors saying the target is incorrect. Also if I try to connect to it from another user computer, it displays teh wrong computer name in the top of the connect to box. (displays another computer on the domain). Any ideas on what could be causing this, or what is wrong?

Thanks,

Bryan

Have you tried the IP? It could be a DNS issue.

Yes, I can ping the computer using IP address or FDNQ. The problem only occurs about 50% of the time, all other times, the server can get to this computer.

Also, say the problem computer is computer A. When I try to get to computer A from computer B using explorer and going through the network options, when I click on computer A, it displays computer C's name in task box of the security pop up window.

Try using the IP address of the computer as djtech2k mentioned.

What do you mean to use the IP address?? Sorry, I didn't originally set this sever and computers up, but the guy quit and I am the one to try and fix his mess.

I figured it out, it was an IP/DNS problem. Thanks guys.
