I am writing a script in ASPECT that uses the Connection Directory to dial. I need this to timeout a particular connection attempt if the distant modem fails to answer (i.e ring tone no reply). When tried the connection stays ringing for ever, so the script would need to move on to the next attempt after say 10 rings. I cannot see anything in Procomm 4.8's setup or set commands etc.

Keith, this is not something that you can set via ASPECT to my knowledge. This is a Windows setting that can be modified via the Procomm Setup dialog. In Procomm, select the Options | System Options | Modem Connection menu item. Make sure your modem is selected and click the Modem/Connection Properties button. Click on the Connection tab and change the value of the Cancel the call if not connected within xx secs to an appropriate value. You may also need to enable the checkbox associated with this value to enable the timeout functionality.
