Connection could not be established

I have just installed SQL Server 7.0 on my computer. I want to create a new database, so i click on the server group and then when i try to expand the server i get a message saying that a test connection could not be established. And that it is not running. But in my taskbar it is shown as running.
Anyone know what i am doing wrong?

Have you edited the server registration to make sure the server name is (local) or the correct name of the PC? Terry L. Broadbent
