I have a notebook and a workstation at work that have windows 98 on them. Both will not give me a "domain" logon screen. Just the stupid Win98 "useless" name & password prompt. They are both setup to connect to my domain under the network settings but still nothing. My notebook will actually connect at work but not at home, which I think is really weird. Has anyone had experience with this same problem? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Aloha,

James

Yes it is on my notebook, which is really what I'm trying to fix. If I can fix the computer at work too that's fine but not necessary. But, on my notebook yes it is. When I connect at work and at school it works fine without a hitch. When I try to connect at home, nada!

Thanks for your help with this crazy thing.

James

Make sure that the PRIMARY LOGON is set to CLIENT FOR WINDOWS and not Windows family

I knew this would be an issue because this would be my first suggestion. But my PRIMARY LOGIN is set to CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORK.

Thanks for trying to help me with this crazy crazy thing.

Have you checked the IP address if in the same subnet at work and school but not at home this would explain it.A work around not really a good one is to set up netbeui on the laptop and at home.

I have set up DHCP in both places it is up and serving other computers at both places as well. I do like you suggestion of setting up netbeui protocols on the laptop and my home server. I haven't thought of that yet.

I'll try it, Thanks.

Aloha,

James
