Connecting to SQL Server Analysis Services via BO6

Hi,

I'm trying to connect to an OLAP source (SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)) from Business Objects Reporter v6. I keep getting the error 'Provider cannot be found. Might not be installed properly'.

It is only Business Objects that is having this problem as Excel is able to connect to the source with no problems. The source is the demo FoodMart.

A friend said Business Objects Support mentioned you have to manually register some DLLs when installing SSAS, but then we got no more details.

Any takers???

2 things.

1) You have to be licensed to use this connectivity.

2) This is from the WebIOLAP in the readme directory:
To complete WebIOLAP installation
To complete the WebIOLAP installation you are required to run a batch file on the WebIntelligence server. The batch file is called &quot;WFreg.bat&quot;. It should be run anytime before starting the WebI server. It is installed in the <InstallDir>\bin path.

Thank you - I'll try that.

I'm still a bit lost as to how running this on the WEBI server is going to fix the problem with the BO Reporter (thick client version) as that does not interact with WEBI - correct assumption???

Is there something similar to do for standard BO Reporter?

The DLL stuff won't fix the problem for the client.

Do you have a licence for the connectivity? It isn't installed by default. You have to have the right license.

During install, I looked at the new XML key files and there was nothing in the right hand list box, i.e. not licenced. But I'll check again.
