I was wondering if there was a way to access information in a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database without using an ODBC connection? Basically accessing the database if it has not been registered as an ODBC datasource? Thank you for any suggestions.

If it isn't possible to connect to the database without registering it as an ODBC datasource is it possible to dynamically register the database as an ODBC datasource then connect to it using the DBI and DBD::ODBC modules?
