Connecting to PBX with terminal em. s/w.

When I connect to the PBX with terminal s/w on my PC it doesn't communicate.
Dumb terminal communicates fine on the same connector.

Terminal s/w used: Hyperterminal or Procomm 2.11 on Windows XP.
Tried connecting with various terminal emulations: ATT 605 or 4410.
Port settings are the same as on the dumb terminal.

In order to connect to the serial port on PC I use 25 to 9 pin converter and 9 female/female cable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

What's the switch version - what ports are you trying to access (23, 5023, 5050, etc...), and have you set IP-Services on the PBX?

Thanks,

Check your comm port settings on your emulator software. It could be you are set to use the wrong comm port. I have seen a lot of people bring up Hyperterm against a modem instead of a serial port.

It seems like there is no comm happening thru the serial port.
Since I don't have an adapter to convert 25 pin female to 9 pin female I am using Female 25/Male 9pin adapter with female/female serial cable. Could someone confirm if such configuration should work?

Thanks

Insert a mini-breakout box to be sure your transmit and recieve are not crossed, if so, insert a null modem.
