connecting to ODBC with VB

Can anyone please explain how I would go about connecting to ODBC using VB?

I am using RemoteData Control to link to the database

and then connect crystal report control to that Msrdc1

but when i try to generate the report it gives me Error 20599 - Cannot open SQL server.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or let me know where I can find any info on this topic or maybe examples?

Have you set-up the DSN on your machine within the control panel, also check you've got the right the right to the database and password etc.

yeah the dsn is set up and i got the database and pw and all. Can it be something else?

you need the latest release of CR 8. This problem was fixed in the latest release

i am using CR 7 and chances are they wont get version 8.

Is there an update/fix for CR 7 i can download somewhere?
