Just a quick question we have 8 NETCON ports setup, is it possible to use one/any of them with a standard modem or do I have to use a data module or is there any alternative?

To connect with Netcom, you have to use a data module, a standard modem can't work..
:)

If you need to conect via modem you would have to use the inads port.

Maxster,

Yes you can use a modem to connect to netcon channels..

Providing you set up your netcons in a hunt group and assign a (DID or internal extension) to the hunt. Then all you would need to do is to dial the hunt group extension and then connect to the first available netcon ? Comprende !

Let me know how you make out!

Wrong! You cannot use an analog modem to access the netcon channels unless you are using modem pooling. To access the netcons via a hunt group you need a data module.

Sorry to bust your bubble oldphoneguy, but it is being done at 32 location through out the Great U.S.of A. !!

Peace Out! and have a Blessed day!

Well, I'm always open to learning something new. Maxster: I'd be interested to know if this works for you.

Thanks for helpful advice. I checked our switch and we had the following already configured:

Group Number: 98 ACD? n
Group Name: #Netcons Queue? n
Group Extension: 3998 Vector? n
Group Type: ucd-mia Coverage Path:
TN: 1 Night Service Destination:
COR: 1 MM Early Answer? n
Security Code:
ISDN Caller Display:

all the NETCON ports were already included as members.

Does it work dialing from a standard analogue extension connected to an analogue modem...no.

The NETCONS are set up as follows:

Group Number: 98 ACD? n
Group Name: #Netcons Queue? n
Group Extension: 3998 Vector? n
Group Type: ucd-mia Coverage Path:
TN: 1 Night Service Destination:
COR: 1 MM Early Answer? n
Security Code:
ISDN Caller Display:

What is the difference between dialing the hunt group or the NETCON direct?

How is your configuration BoBAZ different to mine?

When you call the hunt group you get the modem tone back but and it appears that the modem has connected but after a short period the modem drops the connection.

BoBAZ I too would like to see this. I've been fighting with this for years! Please enlighten US

1a2 to ip I seen it all

Here is a snapshot of the configs.... Hunt, data mod list, data module,

Note: Hunt group is a DID number. ( netcons are also, maintenance are only internal )

Could this be version specific?

BoBaz what version are you running?

it's all in the dialing string people., I don't have it handy but I do know that if you set it up with a specific Hayes command string referenced in the data mod section of the documents for the 7400 data mods it should work. I have set these up years ago and had some problems with them. Some worked, Some I just found another way.

I believe that I have it working on Ver 8 and ver 6 All G3si's.

I have checked my configuration and it is identical to the ones shown but I still can't it to work.

Perhaps it never was meant to be.
