I have a direct connection to Audix V4.0(tn566) on Port A(sat terminal) and I have a remote connection on the AUX port but I would like to access the Audix via DSA internally. Is it possible to use Port B for this and if so how can it be done?
I might be wrong ...but I don't think you can use a IP-connection to a Definity Audix in a prologic switch. Here is why I say that. We have a CMC switch in Florida with a tn568 Definity Audix and we can not use the c-lan card in the switch to get to the Audix card
Well I'd like to connect via data module or modem , not ip.
I have a remote connection setup for modem for an analogue line external to the switch. What I'd like to do is use either a data module or modem to connect internally via the switch
There is a way to setup your Definity Audix to be accessible by telnet if that's what you desire. There is a device made by Lantronix (UDS100 - Device server - ~~$150) that will basically take your serial connection and allow you to setup an IP terminal server session. I've used these devices back when they were made by Equinox (MDS-10) and they work fairly well with Audix, and are made to be wall-mounted. They have a very small foot print...about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It's a cheap solution to be able to administer legacy products over your existing LAN.
Just setup a new voicemail connection in your DSA to use the modem you have on your Audix. You can dial into the external line or setup the Audix with a number off your switch. This would let you dial the four digit number to access it.
Well I want to keep the connection that is external in case for some reason the switch extension can't be reached due to a technical error. The only way I can connect to the Audix modem is by dialling the external line which seems a waste of money. I would like to have both but I'm not sure if thsi is possible?
The Audix and switch should have differant lines to them. The only time the Audix modem would be tied up is when you access it through your DSA. Disconnect it when you are done. I had mine setup on one of our numbers off my switch. If Avaya needed to dial in they dialed my number to connect to it. Now the one for the switch I use an external line (POTS) line. I also have my ASA so I can dial in through my INADS port and get into the switch. I am on v8 so I cant use it through my clan card.
