MY
need help..
i'm trying to connect a thumb print scanner to my access table.the problem is, how to get access recognised the thumb print scanner as an input device?
In theory, thumb print scanner is also considered as an input deice just like keyboard and mouse..right?
please help..

Not necessarily. Most scanners use TWAIN to control them. Which is not an input device such as a keyboard or mouse.

What is the point of the scanner? Is it just scanning a thumb print and you are storing the image in Access? From what I have read on this forum you don't want to save images in your database. You will link to the image.

Your scanner should have some kind of software that came with it. You should be able to access the software through TWAIN to aquire the image and save it.

Many scanning software packages have a default directory that you can setup and use a numeric naming scheme that can be tracked. Set these up. Then you can use VBA from Access to call the program you use to scan the image, save it, and report it back to Access.
