I a trying to use an old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback PRO joystick on a new computer running Microsoft XP. The problem is the joystick uses a midi connector and my sound card does not have that type of connection. Apparently, there are some conversion devices that allow midi connectors to work with USB, but they don't work with this joystick. I have not been able to find a PCI card that just is used for midi connection. Any ideas on how to make joystick work on my commuter?

How "good" is your sound card? If it is a fairly cheap one, you may be money ahead to just replace it. Best of both worlds, a good sound card for gaming and a joy port.

I considered the new sound card solution, but I have a very good card in the computer. I need another alternative that will work.

You may have a midi/game controller port on the motherboard than needs a special bracket to be added in a PCI Slot. That is what came with my Asus A7N8X Motherboard. I have a couple sitting in a box at home along with USB and firewire and serial port Brackets.
