The subject of this message about says it all...hp 5500 dn printer, hp 775y pavilion, both with ethernet cards...can I connect directly as I would with a parallel or usb cable?

Thanks,

Chad Roeder

I assume that you mean connecting with cat5, yes you can connect with a crossover directly or with standard cable thru a hub or switch. You will also need the HP software (which should have come with the printer)for network printing.

you will need to set up the printer with an ip address and make a cross over cable 568b one side to 568a
and the driver and your set
