Hi,
I have Windows 2000 Professional INstalled in my Home Desktop.

I have a cable internet connection.

Is it possible to hook up a lap-top to this PC and get the internet connection on the lap-top also?
If yes, what do I need to do.
If no, what do I need to do.

Simple,
1-you can get a router, wireles router. Hook up the cable modem in the wireless router, and have your PC hookup via ethernet port to the router. Get a wireless Notebook card (usually they come with the d-link router $99 for both).. and you are all set.

2- Install another NIC card in your home PC, and get a Cross-Over cable to connect to your laptop. And have ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) enabled on the win2k PC.

3- Get a regular router, and have 2 ethernet coming from the PC and form the laptop.

The second option is the cheapest

Crashtestmac is correct in his response, but, if you have the new Centrino processor, then NO. you will have wireless adapter built in :)
