Is it possible if the key systems are close enough together? is it possible if they are even right next to each other?

What exactly are u trying to do, supply one with dial tone from the other?

Lemme guess, analog to CO line?

With a T1 would be the best way just use a cross over cable

With only one pair there you could only make calls in one direction. Most likely using DISA on one end and LS/DS on the other.

With 2 pair you could make 1 E&M ckt (E&M on each end) and could make 1 call in either direction.

But with 2 pairs I would (and have) use a T1 with xover cable.

I like the ATA idea. i just have 2 3x8s sitting right next to each other and I want to transfer back and forth if possible.

Im the local phone guy, so I can make dry loops to connect buildings at my own whim, so it would be a good selling point to connect two buildings

ATA, sorry I missed the 1 pr, with T1 or E&M you need 2 prs

Just keep in mind- with the ATA/OPX setup, on one system, it's an extension. When they call that ext, it will ring wherever you program the line appearance, but they won't be able to dial an ext directly that way.

If you use an ATA on each side, and a CO port on each side (2pr.), then the operation is the same both ways. They'll pick up the "line 3", and dial the ext.
