All I want to do is connect to my database at work via my home pc. I have access, excel, front page...I set up the ODBC driver using the IP address and default database of my work SQl server and get errors referencing named pipes. I have a cable modem at home. I am using a SQl login login.

Anybody done this?

You'll want to set both your server and your client (home) PC to use TCP/IP rather than Named Pipes. Your server is probably already to accept a TCP/IP connection, but you'll need to go into the ODBC setup for SQL Server/Client Configuration and change it to TCP/IP. Then, specify the IP address of your work server rather than its name, and you should be all set.
