Folks,

My oracle user is able to connect internal and as sysdba. How do I give root the same privileges? (Connect internal and connect as sysdba).

I've tried assigning root to the dba group but that didn't work, should I do something with the remote_login_passwordfile parameter?

8.1.7 Oracle Database.

Thanks,

Stickybit.

Hi,
You may want to forget about 'connect internal' as it is no longer supported and if you move up to the current Oracle version ( 9.2) you will not be able to use it at all..

You should be able to 'grant dba to root' when connected as sys and then
log in as 'connect root@alias as sysdba'

Sorry, root is an operating system user...What group does he have to be apart of in order to be able to connect as sysdba? (8.1.7 Oracle Database)

In oracle 9i root would have to be apart of the OSDBA group.

Sorry, I thought you had created a user also named root..

I'm not sure since we do not use OS authentication..I would suspect that the docs at
would have the answer..
