First let me say many thanks to all those who have helped me get things going. Ok so I have PF,OAB, and Schedule + replicating. Moved a couple of test users over to the new server...works fine..can send/recieve inside/outside emails. Now I'm trying to set up SSL for OWA. I'm stumped. I set up CA on a server, but I don't know how to get a certificate for my new exchange server. Do I really need SSL? Thanks for the help folks!

Hi,

you need ssl if you are slightly paranoid, or if you in other ways care about security. It's a quite simple thing to install, and it does a lot.
What you may not need, is a valid certificate. Just make one and don't bother register it. It does the same job.

You need SSL if you want to have your users access OWA through a secure site, [https].

I normally a use a third party certificate authority like Verisign. You would need to purchase an SSL Site Certificate and install it using your web server admin program, (Internet Service Manager, for IIS).

You don't need a CA server for this.

Well i'm going to price a certficate...but if i can make my own is there a good Qarticle that i can use to help me make it? Man this stuff sucks!!!

Look here:
under "How-To Resources". You'll find articles both about how to set up your own CA server, and how to install certificates.
One thing to about the CA server is that you won't be able to move it (change ip-address, name) later.(If i remember correctly)

Google for ' ca certificates iis ssl' or something. (

Ok so i figured out what the heck is going on. There was some stupid redirect for SSL traffic to go to our exchange server. Got that fixed. Now all i gotta worry about (hopefully) is our fax software.
