I have the full Office 2000 installed on my PC but I needed a copy of Access 97 to run a database from one of our offices....

The guy who installed it on my PC installed the whole Office 97 suite (not just Access), now I have a problem.

For some reason the desktop icon for Outlook 2000 has changed to a Microsoft Exchange icon labelled "Inbox".

This shortcut doesn't work and I can no way delete it or even restore the original Outlook 2000 icon. I have attempted to go back-end through the registry but have had no luck.

Does anybody have a suggestion ?

Personally what I would do is remove all of Office 97 for starters. You don't need all of Office installed just for Access 97 and there is just no reason to install all of Office 97.

After the uninstall see if your Outlook settings return to normal. If not then at this stage I would run a repair on Office 2000.

Then to get Access 97 installed the tech should have first rename the HATTEN.TTF font file and then renamed the Access 2000 executable from access.exe to something like access.2k. Then the tech should be able to install Access 97 alone without a problem. After the installation is complete then rename the two files back. joegz

Thank you, that was originally my idea to be honest but I can't try it out as I don't have the Office 97 CD and will have to get back to them.

The reason I posted an enquiry was to see if there was anything else I could do. I agree with what you have put and will accept this as a solution.

Thanks for your answer

I have used this FAQ before and have tried this but to no effect. Nice idea and I appreciate it, if you run througth this you find the registry key is already present and if you delete then add again it is to no effect.

I'm going to go with the advice of removing Office 97 and just re-installing Access 97 renaming the HATTEN.TTF font file and then renaming the Access 2000 executable to something different from access.exe.

I now consider this issue closed, thanks
