Hi friends,
When I login in my server from a remote machine, for
some users it's confirming the tty as vt100 or ansi like that. But for some users it's not asking tty while logging in.Can anyone enlight me about that .

Thanks.

The answer will probably be in /etc/profile which every user will run when he/she logs in. [sig]
Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
Making mistakes, so you don't have to. <grin>[/sig]

That's correct Mike,
Thank You. [sig][/sig]

But Mike,
The difference I noted down, but even If I set
TERM=ansi; and export TERM for Korn shell , still it's
expecting an Return(Enter key) confirmation for the root user.

Any idea?

Thanks.

Does it do this every time or is it intermitent?
Are you using terminal emulators or dumb terminals or both? [sig]
Ged Jones
gedejones@hotmail.com

Top man[/sig]

I've seen this before, quite a while ago... If my creaking memory serves me correctly, it's related to having a "tset" command either in /etc/profile or $HOME/.profile. See if you've got that line in root's .profile and comment it out if it's there. You are exactly correct Andy. It's due to the tset command
I ignored.

Thanks everyone.
