I would like to configure memory parameters such as SEMMSL and SEMMNI on my IBM AIX box. In which file and directory can see the original settings?

Hi Elgis,

Thanks for your reply. I run Oracle 8.1.6 on IBM RS 6000 SP running AIX 4.3.2. Due to increase in users and applications, I needed to increase my PROCESSES parameter in Oracle and couldn't because I suspect I don't have enough semaphores on the O/S.

In my experience the file to edit is /etc/system. However, this file does not exist on my system. I wonder if it is called a different name or if it resides on another location on AIX?

Grateful for your comments.

Dare.

Dave,

Have you checked out the "Processes Per User" paramater in smit? That is settable.

Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
You can see that with

lsattr -El sys0

and chage it with

chdev -l sys0 -a maxuproc=n

Or, you can simply use smitty chgsys

I hope it works...

Thanks Elgis, Thanks Michael. Both your suggestions point in the same RIGHT direction.
