Configuring Cisco 678 DSL Modem with Linksys wirelesss Access Point

Hi,
I've been using Cisco 678 DSL modem for some time now and recently bought a linksys wireless router to share my other computer with the DSL.
When I connect the Ethernet port (marked as ENET) of cisco modem to linksys, the Linksys is not getting any signals from the ciso, ie. WAN (Link,Act,Diag) lights are off. When I connect the linksys to my office Ethernet its getting the signals. But if I connect my laptop directly to the Cisco everything is working fine. So I think there might be a configuration problem in Cisco modem.

Please let me know how to configure cisto to work with linksys?

I have not worked with this unit but I can guess its probably a cable error. When you go from switch to host, you would use a straight through cable, if you go switch to switch, you need a *twisted* cable or a cross-over cable.

Which one to use is sometimes not very clear with cheap equipment. Also, one some equipment there is a button with a X on it or near it. This will let you manually switch the port from straight to cross (X) or back.

Sometimes devices are autosensing and then it's really hard to troubleshoot because one device works and a different wont and you will be scratching your head because you didnt know the first was autosensing the etherport polarity and correcting it.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm using the CAT5 cable that came with LinkSys. Does the CAT5 is different from these two *twisted* cable, cross-over cable?
I don't have the button with a X as you mentioned.

Usually pre-made cross-over cables are color coded differently, but not always. Any computer store will have a cross-over cable that you can pick up for a few dollars. Since it definitely sounds like a layer 1 issue, you should get a cross-over before wasting time trying anything else. Oh, and the X button is sometimes found on the smaller Cisco units such as the SOHO 71. If you dont have that, you need to have the cross-over cable.
