Configure standard T1?

I'm configuring a standard T1 - b8zs/esf(non-pri). It's already existing and I am installing a LSP S8300/G430 with it.

What are some of the most common configurations for this?

I assumed the signaling mode is 'robbed-bit'. Not much else really to configure on the DS1. It doesn't have a signal group right - not being a PRI?

What should the trunk group set as? access/tie? What kind of trunk type? wink/wink? Anything for the mode or type?

Thanks,

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. What is this T-1 for? The configuration of a T-1 would all depend on what the carrier is providing you, and you should be taking to a provisioning technician with that company to get the setting correct.

It's just a voice T1. It's already up and running connected to a Lucent T1 breakout device to 24 copper pair paired to an old Meridian PBX. I'm just replacing the pbx with the S8300/G430 with the existing T1. Eventually it will be replaced with a PRI, but was looking for basic config suggestions on how it should be configured.

I am still not following you. Where does the T-1 come from and go to? Does it come in from a service provider or is it from another PBX? There really isn't "just a voice T-1".

My apologies. It's from a telcom provider. It provides PSTN access to the existing PBX.

If I get this correctly you are replacing the Meridian with the S8300/G430. And the current T-1 goes from a carrier to a breakout panel and supplies PSTN lines to the Meridian. And you want to connect that T-1 to the new PBX using a DS1 card.

If I am correct, then we go back to my first post. You will save your self a big headache if you contact the service provider, and work with there provisioning department and get the line setup correctly ( you need to make sure your setting on the pbx match what the lines is setup for). You will also have to set your trunk groups and route patterns. Even if we gave you a config for the DS1, there could be other issue that the carrier can help you with.

Thanks for the response. I'm just trying to get most of it now. The provider has told me it is b8zs/esf(non-pri). Just looking for the most common configs for what it might be before opening a ticket for the install.

The carrier is the only one that can 100% tell you how that T-1 is programmed on there side of the line. And they should be able to tell you everything you need to know to get it programmed correctly on your side. Some times it takes a little arm twisting, but that how telco's are.
Just tell them you need to confirm the correct setting, and you would like to talk to a provisioning engineer.
