Hi,

Newbie so bear with me! :o)

I have a W2K server used only as a file server on a site with a wireless bridge a short distance from our HO.

This W2K server has a SOHO3 box connected to a NIC designated WAN which is connected to a BT Router.

With the relevant DNS settings for our ISP in place the W2K server can browse the internet.

How can I allow other computers on the site go out on the internet with this set up and not come back through the Wireless bridge and use the DC's internet connection?

If I have ommited ANY relevant information please let me know?

You can setup NAT in the Windows 2000 Server for the Internet access. As you have mentioned the private network already has DNS and DHCP existing, this will not be the solution. You may have to use a proxy server for Internet access in this situation.

NAT is appropriate for a SOHO network.

The LAN NIC is 10.0.0.249 (static). The WAN NIC is 192.168.0.10, the DG is 192.168.0.1 which is the same as the internal IP Sonicwall SOHO router.

You mention having to use proxy in this situation? The DC at the HO has ISA with Proxy, how will this affect the W2K Server I am talking about?

Are the computers in the branch site belong to a Windows domain?

If the computers in the site are in a workgroup, you would be able to configure this computers to use the W2K server as their Internet Gateway. Configure NAT in your W2K server.

The site is connected to the HO via a wireless bridge, all computers/ servers are on the same domain.

Hi,

Configured NAT as per KB articles etc and having no luck wrt pointing computers at teh WAN nic to browse the web.

Any ideas?

What is the IP Configuration of the workstations? IP Address, Default Gateway, DNS, etc.

Hi,

The address range for the network is 10.0.0.0

All IP adresses at WS level are DHCP assisgned in this range.

The DNS address for the network is 10.0.0.2.

The default gateway for these machines is 10.0.0.249?

The static address on the server which is on the other side of the wireless bridge is 10.0.0.249.

DHCP is set to assign IP, SM and DG.

IF a DG is assisgned it is 10.0.0.2.

Gawen.

Try setting the DG to 10.0.0.249, since it is the server you are trying to use as the gateway to the Internet. Not positive, but worth a shot.
