IP Office manager version 3.4(16)

I turned on conditional call forwarding for a telecommueter that has an internal extension. Basically what happens is that when someone in the office dials their extension it forwards the call to their home.

The issue is that if the person is on the phone then the next subsequent caller will get a busy signal.

Is there any way to turn on voicemail if it receives a busy signal?

Thanks,

Ken

This is not really possible, the way you want to do it. When a call is forwarded, it leaves the IP Office never to return again!!! Therefore, it does not see the remote busy signals or voicemail.

The easiest way to achieve this is for the remote worker to subscribe to call waiting on their mobile or home phone. This then keeps both calls alive, and informs the remote worker that someone is waiting on the other line.

The only way I could suggest you do this if you want to use IP Office is to turn off forwarding, and use Voicemail Pro to give the caller a set of options. For example, you could use Test Conditions to set times when people are out of the office, and give the caller options to leave a message or be forwarded to the person's mobile/home. This is still scrappy and would not be my ideal choice.

If anyone else knows of another way than call waiting, let me know because I'd be interested too!

An assisted transfer in voicemail pro might be the go, with on busy on the assisted transfer going to a leave mail icon for the users mailbox.

Otherwise try using the follow me forward. If the forward is busy it sends it to the users mailbox

Sorry to differ but calls forwarded off switch can return. However it is highly dependent on the trunk types and PSTN provider services.

Certainly forwarding over analog trunks won't return. Forwarding on digital trunks has a chance all depending on the signalling provided by the carrier.

Hey guys, I appreciate your suggestions and for the time being will try with having the user subscribe to call waiting.

I think this would be my best bet.

Thanks again.
