Hi, I'm trying to merge 2 columns, each is general format. When I enter the formular =B1&C2 I get the result #VALUE. I'm using Excel 2003.
Thanks,
Michael Kohler

Is this for every row? Can you provide a few examples?

I have columns
Day Month Year
1 7 1975
16 8 1974

I want to then combine the fields into one that shows this as 1/17/1975. What format should these columns be in?

An update, I read this in a different forum and it worked. I saved the file as csv file, closed it and reopened the file in Excel, and the formular =B241&"/"&C241&"/E2 word fine.

Glad to hear! Though, it does seem odd to me that you HAVE to save it as a CSV file. But, whatever works! [wink]

Thanks for the follow-up.
