I use multiple Win2000 server in my company. I use them remotely over Terminal server connections. When I have more servers opened simultaneosly I get frustrated, because I don't see the computer name.
My idea was to write the computer name on the taskbar near the start button, so I can always easily tell the servers.
How can I do it simply?

Basically when you create the connection , instead of typing the IP address of the Server type the NetBIOS name of it. This will require you to keep your hosts file updated with all the server names and IP addresses. When you do it this way , the Server name is what is dispalyed in the task bar at the bottom.

Does this help? James Collins

It is true for the client in Window mode.
Mainly I use the Terminal client in Full mode, so I dont see the taskbar of my local computer, but only the taskbar of the Terminal server.
I'd like to have the computer name visible on the Terminal server side.

Oh I see I am sorry. I am unsure of that. You could create a Bitmap with the name of that server and make it the desktop wallpaper (Kinda cheezy but hey, I am trying). James Collins

It is a good idea, but if you have some applications maximized over the desktop you don't see the computer name.
Is it possible to put some text on the taskbar?

James - I can beat your cheese with my cheek.

Create the bitmap and type the text name of the server. Save to c:\servername.bmp. Set the bitmap as the desktop wallpaper. Now when you see the desktop, as James says, you see the server name.

Now leave paint open with the file open. On the taskbar is the servername.

Double cheese. To go.

Wouldn't it be better to make a shortcut or something on the taskbar? Is it possible to make shortcuts with a word and not only with an icon?
Or maybe in the Quick launch toolbar?

I can change the Tooltip of the Show Desktop icon, but still I need to go over it with the mouse.
I'd like to see it immedaitelly and explicitly[3eyes].
