I am using a Compaq computer running Windows XP Home Edition.

Using Microsoft Word 2003, will intermittently freeze while typing.

Pressing Controll/Alt/Delete will take some time before a screen comes up.

I also typed in WordPad and the same thing would happen.

When running other applications everything is OK.

The keyboard has been changed, computer scaned for viruses and spyware with nothing found.
I had a screen showing the processor activity, it was extremely low when the problem occured.

I would appreciate some advise.

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed? If so, within Norton Antivirus, select Options/Miscellaneous and uncheck
enable office plug-in, click OK

This used to happen to me until I disabled the Windows Messenger option in either Word or Outlook (I don't remember exactly in which program it was, but it was in the Tools/Options menu).

I had same problem too Razman10. It's in Outlook on the Tools menu.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But, rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

I thank you all for your advise.

However, the suggestions did not work.

I am still open for any further advise which would be much appreciated.

Do you have Microsoft Outlook on your PC? If so it could be that journal entries are setup to save, you could remove this as below

Start Outlook
Select Options from the Tools menu
Select the Preferences tab and click 'Journal Options'
Unselect all boxes and click OK

And see if it helps

Then, most likely culprit is your graphics driver.

Try this first ---> Under Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshooting; lower or increase acceleration by 1 notch and see if things work well.

Else, download updated graphics driver and re-install. I would re-install mouse driver as well, just for the fun and excitement (as Nixon said, trust me).
