I am using a Overland DLT4000 for the tapes. Would anyone know whether it can handle compression. I am using BE 8.6

Compression

Usually when you set compression ON, BE will try to use hardware compression if available, then will use software compression. Look at the properties of the DLT, you may have to enable compression in the devices section, or via jumpers/DIP switches on the drive.
