compress *.xls from a vfp program

hi folks,

i need to compress a *.excel from my vfp program.
i've seen the faq184-2070, but i need this do be compatible to winzip.

any suggestions appreciated.

Alex,

One possibility would be to use ShellExecute() to launch Winzip. Yuo can either launch the Winzip interface, in which case your users can then contol the zipping process. Or you can do the whole thing automatically by using Winzip's command-line parameters.

Per wgcs suggestion I have created a fairly easy to understand faq184-3830 from the thread...this will give you ZIP operations for free and make it so you don't have to rely on the user purchasing Winzip or something else to do it.
