Hi all,

i have been an avid user of Illustrator since 1988 and have just got into Corel Draw for a 'need-to' reason regarding my illustration work.

What I need to know is, how do you punch out an object inside another? this is called 'Compound' in Illustrator and is basically the middle hole in the letter O for example.

I have opened an Illustrator file in Corel which is a piece of art made up of letters. The graphic has the letter o in there but when I fill it ALL goes the fill color and I want to punch out the hole.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Chompie,

Here's what you need to do.

1) Select your text with the pointer tool

2) I don't know what version of corel you're using so I'm going to have you click on "Arrange" on the top menu bar

3) Then click on "combine" on the fly-out menu

These steps should cover what you need.
