Compaq used to make a partition that was for the OS use only, unavailable to user. And if you diddled it the system became unusable. The only recovery was to use the rebuild CD and recreate the partitions Compaq wanted you to have.<br>But you could see it using fdisk and the ones I've clobbered were in the 1 mb range.<br>This may or may not apply to what you see.<br>Now that you've deleted the partition, can you create an extended partition with it, format it, and have it readable.
