compaq evo D500 internal speaker

have compaq Evo d500 1.7ghz business desktop with an internal speaker that makes a loud continuous static sound.
called compaq, and after they had me check the drivers and a different HD, they sent me a new speaker.installed the new speaker and had the same constant loud static.next i checked the power supply, but still had same problem.
any thoughts on this?

I guess you considered possibly just disconnecting the little you know what and using some decent external speakers instead? Might even be a way to disable it in the bios.
