Hi

I have just unboxed a Compaq/HP D330 desktop.
I have loaded W2K with SP4 because the application the PC is to run won't run on XP.
I have loaded the W2K Broadcom driver but connection to the LAN is patchy ie ping a node and get 1 reply out of 4.
If I plug the LAN cable in a different PC I get a normal 4 out of 4 response.
Anyone get any ideas/experience with these PCs ?

Many Thanks
Paul

Well you could have set the program to "run as" win2k in xp. Try going to the Compaq site and downloading the D330 drivers for 2k from Compaq.

I have downloaded drivers from HP and Broadcom's web sites but whichever driver I load, I still get the same result.

Unfortunatly this PC will be supplied to a customer with some of my employer's software on it. Windows 2000 is required for political as well as practical reasons.

We do not support this software on XP.

Thanks

Regards

Paul

The school district I work for bought 250 D320s and tested them with xp home(wich they came with)xp pro and win2k. I was able to get the drivers from the Compaq website and all OS's ran just fine. You may have a bad computer rather than bad software.

I reloaded XP from the recovery disks and got the same fault so it looks like you are right in thinking this is hardware related. HP are going to fit a new motherboard under warranty.
Thanks
Paul

HP fitted another motherboard - still got the same problem.
Finally HP fitted a 3rd motherboard and success !! ip working normally.

Thanks everyone !
