Ok lets see if I can explain this issue well. Customer with 6.1/PRI/CP150.

Main T-line 157 R&A on main console x2100.

President's T-line 167 R&A on his phone x2112

IF the president's phone rings no answer goes to his voicemail OK No problem.

Now the main number which is target line 157 that rings and appears on x2100. If the line is not answered they want it to go to the president's voicemail NOT the General delivery which is on x2100.

I can only get this to work if the T-Line of 157 rings on his phone. I have tried putting line 157 in the MessageLine section of his voicemail box as well with no luck.

Customer does not want the main line 157 to ring at all on his phone. They just want it to go to his voicemail box if there is no answer by x2100.

thats an interesting requirement
(that just means i dont know how to do it:)

What happens if L157 is just a messaging line and not ringing on the console?
What happens when the Gen Dely is disabled?

Put the line in the Message Box of his mailbox like you had it. Then go into that Lines programming and make the Voice Mail DN the Prime DN for that line.

Hawks I had done that aswell and still the same thing does to gen delivery.

Now that's a tall order and while I can think of a number of tricks that you could try (if they don't mind paying for your time to experiment), the customer is asking you to try to make the system do things it wasn't really designed to do. I never hesitate to tell them that there's almost nothing you can't do with a Norstar but like any system, it does have some limitations.

I don't suppose they have ever considered actually using their auto attendant to answer calls after hours and provide a menu with an option to leave a message in the presidents' mailbox???

You could also change the G.D. mailbox greeting to include the instruction "Dial star 21?? to leave a message in the presidents' mailbox".

Guys - I thank you for your info on this. They want the gen del to stay with recep. And they do not want AA Greeting associated with that line. I agree with you phonehed. I am gonna head out there tomorrow to try a few things. Thanks again for the info guys.

Why does the General Mailbox have to stay with the receptionist?
