Compact 616. Power failure.

Hello,

I'm dealing with a Compact 616 after a power failure. It's lost its way (probably because of backup caps) It's defaulted to extn. 21 and pulse dialling of course. I get dialling tone and can dial out but after the train goes through it reverts back to dialling tone. Can still receive outside calls on 21. Extension-wise, everything's OK. The extns. can access the outside line and talk to each other. I have the Installer Guide and plan to go into Configuration but how do I know if it needs a System Startup or is the Template still in place? Any info on this situation would be appreciated.

- Replace cap.

- Do a system start up.

- Reprogram.

- Good for another 10 years.

The older 6x16 had a 5.5v battery inside the unit. Say you have a newer 6X16 with DR5, change the battery in the Software cartdige. The battery for the 6X16 are the same as the 8X24.

The dialing out sound like a bad Port. It is common for them to go out . You get 6 ports try another port.

The original "BT" 6+16 Norstar compact units would default as stated above and I seem to recall the date would have been 1 April 1993. It's a sure sign that the programming has been lost.

Considering how old they are, it's not bad going if it's only just failed!.
