Users in the office, when trying to access a report via the web get the following message:

COMMINICATION ERROR - Communication failed with all configured Web Component Servers because they are disabled or not currently running. If this problem continues, please contact the system administrator.

I also get that same message when trying to launch the Crystal Management Console.

When I check in Services (regular services applet in control panel), all the Crystal web-related services appear to be running.

The following error message is repeatedly in the application event log:

The description for Event ID ( 34400 ) in Source (Crystal_WebConnector ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): assert failure in file (Y:\webappserver\wsconnector\src\nisapi\workerpool.cpp) at line 71. (false : Request failed with code 3 and error message Communication failed with all configured Web Component Servers because they are disabled or not currently running. If this problem continues, please contact the system administrator.).

Our Crystal Reports "guru" left the company a few months ago. I'm a novice - what does this all mean, and how can I fix it?

Thanks much in advance!

Hi,
Use the Crystal Configuration Manager, not the control panel services app..

( Should be on the Start menu of the server under Crystal Decisions)

Be sure to enable them as well as starting them..
( the icon on the menu bar of the CCM that has a check mark after logging in to the APS, click on 'enable all'))

If you are going to be held accountable for CE, your employer needs to send you to some basic administrator training. This is not really a learn-as-you-go system.

Thanks, Turkbear

All of the servers listed in the Crystal Configuration Manager are enabled and running.

There are 2 other errors in the event log:

Event ID: 34200 Source: Crystal_pageServer and Crystal_WebCompServer (2 different entries with same ID # and error messages - just 2 different sources).....
Failed to register with the name server. Reason: The server name being registered is invalid. There might be another server of this type registered using the same friendly name.

Event ID: 35300 Source: Crystal_WebCompServer
An unexpected problem (exception) was caught. Reason given: Unknown Exception.

I am going to be sent for training sometime in the 1st quarter of '04.

Any ideas of what I might try to do until then?

~MJ

Thanks for the link, Ido

I can't get into the CMC! That's part of the problem (see my original post).
