Comment on Rounding

Hi Guys, and Gals,

I may be mistaking, and maybe there is an easier way of doing this but here it is anyways.

I have a report that shows dollar, sales gross margin, cost etc etc. The report works great and everyone likes but I would like to round the numbers to the nearest $1000, just to make it neater. I have no problem rounding the numbers but I want to truncate the zeros off of the end. When formatting a number I am able to remove anything to the right of the decimal but nothing to the left.

I know that I can use a formula to remove the zeros, but is there a easier way? I'm using CR V10 and publishing to CE10. There's a lot of different numbers and sums and averages on this report, and being the lazy person that I am I don't want to put a formula in for every number. I already have enough of them.

Round({YourNumberField},-3)/1000

This formula will round to the nearest 1000 then take off the last 3 zeros.

3,196 would be expressed as 3
10,912 would be expressed as 11
etc., etc.

Not really, I didn't want to use another formula, my report is packed full of them. I was wondering if maybe there's a pack to not only round to the left of the zero, but mask the number as well.

I don't think that there is maybe version 11 will have something like that.

I am not sure what you mean by a "pack". You can format the number to display to the nearest 1000, but remember that any summary operations will take the entire number and not the rounded numbers into account.
