Command Line options for Access 2000 1

Trying to set up a shortcut to open a database using a specific system.mdw. This works great in my Office 97 applications with the /wrkgrp option on the command line.
However, the exact same thing in an Access 2000 shortcut does absolutely nothing; just as if the /wrkgrp were not there.

The /wrkgrp option works just the same in 2000 as in 97. See "Startup command-line options" in HELP.

You said the shortcut does absolutely nothing. Do you mean it doesn't start Access? If that's the case you need to check the full command line to verify the path to Access 2000, the path to the database and the path to the MDW file are all correct as well as any other startup options.

Also make sure you are excuting MSACCESS on the command line and not trying to start Access by file association. The command line startup options only work when executing the EXE from the shortcut. Terry

Thanks, Terry,
This is really weird. The shortcut loads access, and then loads the database , which is also named on the command line, but it ignores the /wrkgrp option that follow, just as if it weren't there. I've done this countless times with office 97 databases with no problem.
I do have both office 97 and office 2000 on my machine.
Office 97 shortcuts with the /wrkgrp work fine; Office 2000 shortcuts do nothing with the /wrkgrp. I can, of course use the workgroup administrator to do this, but shouldn't have to. I feel like I'm overlooking something that should be rasing a flag to me, but I just don't see it.

Please post the command line so we can examine it.

Thanks, Terry

Here is the line from the shortcut :

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office2k\office\msaccess.exe" s:\alasdsys\alas.mdb /wrkgrp s:\alasdsys\system.mdw /user John078

Terry, this is exactly the same as the Office 97 shortcut that works.

Thanks for all your help

I ran into similar problems and found that charachter spacing & quotes were screwing me up.....might try it like this:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office2k\office\msaccess.exe" /wrkgrp "s:\alasdsys\system.mdw" "s:\alasdsys\alas.mdb"
