Combo box is just blank

I create a 1 frame swf that loads a combo box with other swf names and loads these swf's in the loader object without a problem. The swf's are newsletters for the month. The combo box reporesents the given month. All the code is in the first frame. The problem is when I transfer this code & objects into my flash 8 website. nothing works, I just see black boxes where my combo and load object are. I have tried putting the code everywhere with no success. Where do I put my additem code and my listener change code for the combo component

Was it a Flash MX combo box or a Flash MX 2004 Pro combobox?

flash mx 2004, the combobox just has a black outline. I traced the code which would additem to the combobox and it executed but the combobox remained blank. Is it possible I have to say _root.combobox.additem

Well you do have to provide a correct path, but you shouldn't have to use _root if the combobox is located on the same frame as the AS.

Just to be sure... the combobox component is in the library isn't it?

when you bring the combobox to the does it go to the library. I looked at the library panel and it says combobox not the instance name I gave it

Yes when you add it to the stage it is added to the library. Are you loading this swf into another swf?

I have 1fash web site.
one page of the website is for news letter
the combo box on the site with have the months of the newsletters
when the user picks a month I want to laod the corresponing swf
each newsletter is a swf

It is ok now my flash player defaulted to flash 6 when exxporting movie
