Combine multiple db's into one

I am a Access/DB newbie.
Are there some good sites and books I should look into?

We have a MDE file that seems to look into 32 different MDBs to access data. Is there a way to combine all these into one MDB?

If you open one of the mdbs with Access you can import objects from other mdbs (tables and programs). I would have thought however your mde can't easily be changed to stop looking in 32 places.

I was thinking this might be a good proejct for me to get my feet wet in Access, maybe even SQL. I've never really had a project to tackle, so I never attempted it. I would probably create a new mde and just use the current data. Copy the current MDBs into a new file and start from there.

An mde is a packaged version of an mdb. If you are doing development why not just stick with plain mdbs?
