Hi all,

I'm fairly new to Excel. I have a question that I kind of think should be easy to figure out, but I haven't been able to.

I need to print annual information about ledger accounts(acct. number and amount) from 2 different databases. One database includes years from 1998 to 1999; the other database from 2000 to 2001. Some of the accounts exist on both databases, others exist on only one of the databases. Could anyone tell me how I can match up the accounts so that the accounts that exist on both databases will be on the same row.

For example:

Accounts 1998 1999 2000 2001

1234 $$ $$
5678 $$ $$
9876 $$ $$
5432 $$ $$ $$ $$

I hope I've explained the problem clearly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks very much.

Sue

Sue,

I've been working on a model to generate the results you describe. It's been going well and is nearly complete.

Basically, it combines the Account Numbers, eliminates duplicates, and then uses VLOOKUP formulas to pull in the data for each of the years. It is (will be) totally automated.

In order to email you a copy, I'll need you to email me, so I can attach the file via return email.

Dale,

Thanks very much for sending the file. It seems to be just what we need, and will save the controller many hours of manual work. The VB code is far too sophisticated for me to have created at my level of experience with vb and excel.

Thanks again for sharing it with us.

Sue
