Hello:

Does Windows 2000 handle COM ports differently in any way from older Microsoft OS?

Both COM ports work fine in DOS on a PC that has just been upgraded to 2000 - so that tells me they are hooked up properly, etc. - but they are inaccessible through 2000.

Thanks in advance!

COM ports are handled the same in 2000 as in 95/98. See if they are installed properly in the device manager. Also, check the port settings (found in the device manager) and make sure that they are set to whatever the device you are trying to use.

I had a similar problem with the COM ports on my Asus P2B-F Motherboard after installing Win2k. A bios update fixed the problem.
