What would be the easiest way of having a multiple column layout of detail within a standard formatted report?

To explain, I want to have a full width report header and footer, but I want to display data (detail) within 3 columns. I know how to do this for things like labels (page definitions for columns), but I need a hybrid of this since I want full 8.5" width to work with on headers and footers.

I've tried embedding a subreport with the page definitions of three columns, but it doesn't render the report with those columns.

Vidar,
In report Design, you go into Page Setup, select the 'Columns' tab, and put in the number of columns, widths, space between, etc. The header always single-column, full width, the detail is broken into columns as you choose.

I didn't realize that the header and footer would be ignored for the page layout parameters for columns. Thank you very much for that helpful reply. It worked like a charm!

Sincerely,
