The proper video adapter driver is necessary. You can obtain the driver with the following steps.
1. Identify the mfgr. Either printed on card, GPU (main chip on card), or documentation provided with pc.
2. If none of the above reveal mfgr, then look for an FCC-ID number, the first three characters being the mfgr ID. Go to the FCC website and enter the ID.
3. Contact the MFGR's website or use "driverguide.com" or "driveshq.com" to locate specific driver and download.
To install the driver:
1. Go to display properties and select"standard vga".
2. Reboot. Go to display properties, adapter, change or update driver. Select "have disk" and path to where driver was downloaded or unzipped.
3. Reboot. Go to display properties. Before going to "advanced" the adapter type should be displayed just above the settings dialogue box. If so, then select the highest possible color depth and resolution. 16 bit and "True Color" may not immediately show up. So select the highest possible and reboot.
4. Go to display properties. 16 bit and True Color (24bit on some adapters) should be available now.
5. If this fails, then make certain you do have the proper adapter, and always set to standard vga before changing video drivers.
