Hi, I brought my pc about 2 weeks ago, Pentium III 866mhz, 384mb RAM, Onboard video and sound, 20 gig HDD.

I am using Windows ME, but I am unsure if it is a hardware or software problem.

When I start my PC from cold it appears to work fine. It boots as normal, the windows ME screen flashes up and disappears, but then it shuts itself down. It literally turns itself of while loading from cold.

Once it has done this, turn it back on and it is usually fine, although it did take 4 attempts the other day. This is not so much a life threatening problem as a bloody nuisense. Having to load my PC twice each time.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas that may help, I would be very grateful.

Yours Arron Taylor

Try turning off your system restore points and reboot.
