I am trying to learn to use SQL server 7... I have made 2 crude databases with SQL server enterprise manager 1.2 and when i go to diagrams -> create and try to add a tabe to the diagram i get the following message box: "CoInitialize has not been called." this happens with both databases...

I have been trauling through the microsoft site too look for a solution but so far it has not helped..

please tell me how to resolve this so I can carry on working... thanks

sorry, that should read: message box: "CoInitialize has not been called." this happens with both tables...

ok... i have discovered it is not my database thats the problem, it happens on the north wind one too

i closed SQL server enterprise manager and opened it again and it works... hope this helps anyone who has the same problem as me in the future

Hi,
I am new to SQL too. Can you go into a little more detail as to how you solved your problem.

I have had the same thing happen to me. In my brilliance I closed Enterprise manager then opened it again and Violla! it worked. This seems to be the 'fix' for most M$ Winblows applications (and operating systems for that matter)

I like to working on stable operating systems - unfortuneately microsoft isnt one of them. The people that develop for M$ seem more concerned about deadlines then putting out buggy applications and then 'fixing' them later with patches (that will usually screw other things up after installing - I'll be nice and not go into this one)

plain and simple - This is another of Microsoft's 'oops' that they dont know why or care why it doesnt work. What I have learned is - save what I am working on FREQUENTLY because microsoft is bad - LINUX forever baby!!
